- Well, I tried the advice of several people and added
- a lastdrive statement to my congig.sys. Sure enough,
- the "not enough drive letters" error went away. But
- of course, life is never that easy, and so now I am
- at the second out of who-knows-how-many problems left.
- When the BB boots, both AmiCDEx and MSCDex report no
- problems. But Norton Cache, which runs just after
- MSCDex and SHOULD cache the CD-ROM(drive G:) says it
- is only caching A-F. If I then type g:<enter> to
- access the CD-ROM, BAM- I get a line full of garbage
- and the BB locks up. Ctrl-Alt-Del has no effect; I
- have to use PCReset from the Amiga side. If I try
- to access it from Windows 3.1 instead of DOS, the
- drive G: symbol is on the File Manager, but if I
- click on it it says "no disk in drive- insert a disk
- and retry" but doesn't crash.
-
- The Amiga side of the driver appears to be working
- okay too. After booting I opened a shell and typed
- "amicdex kill" and then ran it again, this time
- without the NIL option so I could see what was
- going on. Sure enough, it appeared to be working.
-
- If anyone else has encountered this and figured it
- out, I'd sure like to know. Fortunately, it's not
- a matter of life-and-death in getting this to work.
- It would just make it a lot more convienent to view
- disks of GIFs from the BB without having to copy
- them to the HD first.

- p.s. After I just uploaded this message, I got a message from
- someone that said that C-F are reserved for JLinked drives
- whether you use them or not. So I tried his recommended letter
- of H and the same thing still happens.
